What is it ?
The Community Club of Bay Village Incorporated, otherwise know as Bay
Men's Club, is the oldest club organization in our community. As
it passed through various stages of development along with the city, the
club has emerged as a non-partisan organization whose purpose is to
Promote Good Fellowship.
How it Operates
The operation and direction of the club is in the hands of an
executive board consisting of six ex-officio members and four elective
members. The ex-officio members are the four elected officers:
President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and the two most
recently retired presidents. The elective members are elected by
the membership of the club for a one year term.
The executive board is guided by the club constitution and will
interpret and determine the policies outside of the constitution within
the prescribed limits. It is empowered to raise money for the club
treasury, but no assessments can be made on any members other than the
annual dues of $50.00 (which includes food and beverage at each meeting).
Disbursement of funds is governed by a budget determined by the
President and officers and approved by the Board. Fiscal responsibility
is maintained in operating the Club.
Meetings and Programs
The Club meeting season runs from September through June with meetings
held on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at the
Bay Lodge, located at 492 Bradley Road in Bay Village. The evening
consists of a social hour featuring dinner, business meeting and a guest
speaker or presenter. Informality is the norm and socializing with
friends and neighbors is the focus. The pre-business meeting
social hour convenes at 7:00pm or 7:30pm with the regular business meeting held at
8:30pm The business meeting is conducted by the President for
routine business, usually over a short duration. The meeting is
then turned over to the guest speaker or the entertainment of the
evening. The total meeting time rarely extends beyond 9:30pm after
which members remain for socializing.
