About the Bay Men’s Club

What is Bay Men’s Club?

The Community Club of Bay Village Inc., otherwise known as Bay Men’s Club, is the oldest civic organization in the city of Bay Village, Ohio.  As it passed through various stages of development along with the city, the club has emerged as a non-partisan organization whose purpose is to promote good fellowship.

How it operates
The operation and direction of the club is in the hands of an executive board consisting of six ex-officio members and four elective members.

The ex-officio members are the four elected officers (president, vice president, treasurer, secretary) and the two most recently retired presidents.

The elective members are elected by the membership of the club for a one-year term. The executive board is guided by the club constitution and interprets and determines the policies outside of the constitution within the prescribed limits.
It is empowered to raise money for the club treasury, but no assessments can be made on any members other than the annual dues of $50.00 (which includes food and beverage at each of the 10 yearly meetings).

Disbursement of funds is governed by a budget determined by the president and officers and approved by the board. Fiscal responsibility is maintained in operating the club.

Meetings and programs
The club meeting season runs from September through June with meetings held on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at the Bay Lodge, 492 Bradley Road, just south of Wolf.

The evening consists of a social hour featuring dinner, business meeting and a guest speaker or presenter.  Informality is the norm and socializing with friends and neighbors is the focus.

The pre-business meeting social hour convenes at 7:00 p.m. followed by dinner.  The guest speaker then takes the floor around 8:00 p.m. followed by the business meeting conducted by the president.  The total meeting time rarely extends beyond 9:30 p.m. after which time members remain for socializing.
